Fighting the Asymmetrical Battle Against Fat

One-third of Americans are overweight, either by a little or a lot. Obesity affects both adults and children, men and women, and leads to long-term declines in health. Getting people skinnier might save more money than all the health care reform bills. Yet when it comes to the war against obesity in this country, we need to recognize we are fighting an asymmetrical battle—and that we are in the trenches and on the streets, fighting 24/7.

Fighting weight loss is a battle on many fronts, often without formal enemies. The enemy is within and without, might come disguised as stress with high cortisone levels that lead to binge eating; it doesn’t wear a uniform and might come with those cookies with flavor enhancers; doesn’t declare war or fight by the rules of engagement; and could be disguised as poor sugar uptake by your cells.

In military parlance, this is called asymmetrical warfare—and that’s what it has come to with obesity in the United States of Anxiety. When the enemy is unconventional, your tactics must be equally adaptive.

There are many reasons for weight gain: cultural, emotional, physical, biological, genetic, dietary, and lifestyle influences all can play a role. Perhaps you were raised in an environment where fat-laden fried foods were served every night and day, or perhaps you work in a stress-filled job that leaves eating as your only outlet for pent-up emotions.

Perhaps you’re a member of the “TV generation” that shuns outdoor exercise, or maybe you’re one of the millions living life on-the-go who turn to quick, cheap calories provided by fast-food restaurants. Or maybe you spend too much time playing video games.

For the majority of us with weight to lose, it’s likely that several of these factors are adding unwanted pounds.

The obesity enemy demands a multifaceted approach. This is warfare, boys and girls, of personal importance, and of real interest to the folks at Garden of Life, the company that brought you fücoTHIN, the nation’s hottest diet supplement. This time, Garden of Life has come up with a new weight loss formula, incorporating the active ingredient in the earlier formula, and based on clinically studied ingredients that enable you to fight an effective asymmetrical war at the level of your enemies’ real stop points—a full 360 degrees of diet protection.

Diet 360 is the first formula that addresses just about all major weight loss issues for a global approach— plus with its key ingredients, it’s actually a weight loss pill that is healthy for you. And that’s what we like. Nobody can argue that some of these ingredients stand out on their own for real health importance.

There Is No "One Solution" To Weight Loss

“Fixing your weight gain situation must be just as multi-faceted as the cause, starting first with attitude,” says Jordan Rubin, CEO of Garden of Life and author of books such as Perfect Weight America , The Maker’s Diet , and Patient Heal Thyself.

“To overcome this challenge, you’ve got to understand two vital thoughts. The first key is accepting that carrying extra pounds is about far more than appearance. It compromises your health and affects every aspect of how you live your life. The second is fighting this war on multiple battlefields. You’ve got to change your attitude, your thinking process, your food intake, your exercise, and possibly even wage a war against your body’s own chemistry to get the scale moving again in the right direction. You don’t need a small ‘tweak;’ you need a revolution—a 180 degree change with a 360 degree plan!”

That’s why this New York Times  best-selling author who has revolutionized our way of living and eating with some of the biggest selling supplements in history (e.g., Primal Defense, Perfect Food, and Oceans 3, to name a few) formulated Diet 360 to help wage the asymmetrical war against excess weight gain—and to finally win the battle of the bulge. “Diet 360 provides a comprehensive and holistic approach in helping you reach your weight loss and total health goals,” Jordan says.

Besides weight loss, the formula offers terrific overall health benefits. For instance, if you haven’t gotten to know Ashwagandha, you should.

This wonderful herb from India works to bolster the body’s stress response, which helps reduce the stress hormone cortisol. As people become stressed, their responses can be varied. Things like skipping meals, binge eating, carb craving, stress-related fatigue, mood swings and occasional sleeplessness are common. By inhibiting stress responses, Ashwagandha supports healthy weight management. It is a very powerful herb for bringing serenity, and a good blend will work almost immediately to elevate your mood. (We think of this herb as being in the same realm

Blueberry Leaf
Blueberry leaf
as, for example, holy basil, also a mood elevator, but different with a slightly more global effect on more total body organs.)

The combination of blueberry leaf and bayberry bark extracts are clinically studied ingredients. Where Ashwagandha extract works to reduce cortisol and stress, the blueberry leaf and bayberry bark work to reduce the negative impact of foods that dump sugar into your system. If you eat a high amount of carbs and sugar, there will be a lot of glucose in the bloodstream. The longer glucose is in the bloodstream, the more likely that the body will try to get rid of it another way. The longer insulin touches glucose, the more likely it will convert that glucose into fatty acids. The fat created in the process may manifest itself as new fat cells or increase the size of existing fat cells. Maintaining blood sugar levels (already in the normal range) may ultimately lead to slower fat cell production.

In clinical studies, blueberry leaf and bayberry bark were shown to help maintain already normal blood sugar levels for healthy glycemic response. These ingredients did so by expediting glucose from the bloodstream into fat and muscle cells. By advancing the movement of glucose quickly into the cells, glucose cannot be converted efficiently into fat by the insulin.

Those Pesky Fat Cells

While fat has many important functions in the body, it’s best to think of fat as an energy source. If you go on a diet and reduce the amount of calories you consume, your body will call on the excess fat stores in your body to provide energy. If you add exercise to the equation, more energy is required and more fat will be used. So you need to do the treadmill, get out and run, or do something to boost your metabolism. Meditation can help as well, as can infrared saunas.

But you don’t want to leave the miracle of brown seaweed out of the equation, either. One of the key ingredients today, fucoxanthin, goes to work within the fat cells, where it has the ability to increase the energy expenditure of the cell. This increased metabolism aids the body in burning calories, which is one of the goals of any weight loss program.

Unlike many other ingredients that boost metabolism, fucoxanthin does so without stimulating the central nervous system, a common side effect of many weight loss supplements.

Finally, a clinically studied decaffeinated green coffee extract called SlimPure was shown to significantly increase the ratio of muscle mass to fat mass. As a result, 50 participants with a body mass index of 25 or higher, both men and women, ranging in age from 19 to 75, took SlimPure, lost an average of 10.9 pounds over 60 days versus 5.4 pounds for the placebo group. Though individual results vary, that is twice the weight loss over the placebo group.

True Diet Protection

SlimPure, together with fucoxanthin, is potent, but the addition of Ashwagandha, blueberry and bayberry allows your body to effectively counterattack and come out ahead with greater metabolism and stress protection. This is not an easy war, but it will be when you begin to exercise, eat right, and take the correct supplements. Diet 360 is the logical choice to attack your weight loss goals from multiple angles in the asymmetrical battle against obesity.
