Over the past 30 years of practicing natural health and nutrition, I have seen the weight-loss industry drastically fail both medically and nutritionally. I have witnessed multiple drug recalls, hundreds of deaths from weight-loss drugs and even deaths from nutritional supplements, and seen numerous fad diets come and go—from the hi-carb diet and the hi-protein diet to the starvation “cleanse” diet and everything in between.
Yet, today, despite these countless miracle diets and weight-loss products with big promises, we must ask ourselves, “Are there more overweight and obese adults and children in the U.S. now or 30 years ago?” Let’s look at the facts according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
- More than one-third of Americans are now obese vs. only 15 percent of adults 30 years ago.
- One-half (50 percent) of Americans are expected to be obese by 2030. This equals 164 million Americans!
- This drastic rise in obesity could lead to 7.8 million additional cases of diabetes and 6.8 million additional cases of heart disease and stroke.
Today, the average dieter makes four attempts each year, which suggests that he or she loses weight then gains it back again and gets caught in a never-ending unhealthy cycle. It’s very obvious that the biggest loser in our American “weight-loss industry” is the industry itself.
Here’s my solution, and it’s a solution that works. By adopting the following four synergistic lifestyle and nutrition tips, you can get off the yo-yo diet train, quit searching for the “miracle pill,” quit following bizarre, unnatural and unhealthy diets, and simply enjoy a happy life at a healthy weight.
STEP 1. ADOPT AN ALKALINE DIET
Due to the stress in our daily lives, the toxins in our air and food, our Standard American Diet (SAD) and our excess weight, our bodies become overly-acidic. This over-acidity slows down and affects all of our bodily functions including our metabolism.
A simple alkaline diet can help counter acidity and help purify our system to make it run more efficiently. Your alkaline diet should consist of:
- 60 percent alkaline vegetables and alkaline fruits, including dark leafy green vegetables like spinach, kale, mustard greens and parsley.
- 25 percent lean protein and healthy fats such as beans and legumes, sprouts, free-range turkey or chicken, fresh fish, seeds, nuts and nut butters.
- 15 percent complex carbohydrates like buckwheat, millet, quinoa and amaranth.
Remember, quality is more important than the specified quantities, make sure you select quality foods that are truly alkaline rather than just working to achieve your proper ratios. Also, only eat when you’re truly hungry and learn the best exercise that I call the “push away,” which means to push yourself away from the table before you begin to feel full.
STEP 2. SELECT SLIMMING SUPERFOODS
Altogether, the following superfoods have over 10,000 years of combined traditional use by indigenous cultures around the globe for numerous health conditions. Today, all of these superfoods are backed by new and exciting clinical research data for weight control, and the best news is that because these are superfoods, you can take them all together and strategically target weight control leveraging multiple mechanisms of action!
Caralluma Fimbriata — I have nicknamed this “The Great Hunger Buster!” Native to India, this edible cactus was used to suppress hunger during times of famine, which is why it is known as “famine food.” In a recent clinical study conducted by the Western Geriatric Research Institute, Caralluma fimbriata was found to “significantly suppress appetite, reduce waist circumference and increase weight-loss in adults who took the supplement.”
When purchasing Caralluma fimbriata, be sure to look for Genesis Today’s Caralluma fimbriata that contains a 10 to 1 extract (10:1), which means it takes 10 pounds of cactus to create one pound of pure, potent powder for 10 times the strength. Take a minimum of 800 mg about 30 minutes before breakfast and another 800 mg before lunch. You actually may need to decrease your dosage if you find that you aren’t hungry and don’t want to eat—I’ve seen this happen numerous times.
Garcinia Cambogia — Nicknamed “The Fat Buster,” the rind of the Garcinia cambogia contains Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA), which is the key natural active compound that may attack fat.
Researchers believe that the HCA in the Garcinia cambogia suppresses appetite by stimulating the production of serotonin while also signaling to the brain that the body is full. It is also believed to disrupt the breakdown and formation of fat.
When looking for a Garcinia cambogia supplement, read the label and find a brand like Genesis Today that contains SuperCitrimax®, which is standardized to contain 60 percent HCA, plus chromium, potassium and calcium. All of these ingredients work together and are absolutely necessary for a potent and effective Garcinia cambogia formulation.
Green Coffee Bean — This super bean has me truly amazed, and I am proud to be the nutritionist who first brought this incredible Green Bean to the public light on national TV. I will let the results speak for themselves. A recent clinical study that was published in the Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity journal followed a group of 16 adults who supplemented with green coffee extract for 12 weeks. Over the course of the study, the subjects lost an average of 17 pounds each—this was 10 percent of their overall body weight and 16 percent of their overall body fat!
The green coffee bean works because of the key natural active compounds called chlorogenic acids, which help slow the absorption of sugar and fat in the body while also supporting metabolism. Read your supplement labels closely, in order to be the most effective, your green coffee bean should contain 45 percent chlorogenic acids!
I recommend Genesis Today’s Green Coffee Bean with zero additives in a vegetarian capsule. For the best results, I recommend taking an 800 mg (2 capsules) serving at least 30 minutes before every meal with a very large glass of water.
Raspberry Ketone — Ketone is the compound that gives the ripe, red raspberry its aroma, and when consumed in a concentrated form, research suggests that the ketone can possibly stimulate the release of fatty acids from our fat cells. Once the fatty acids are released, they are thought to be burned by the body as fuel for energy.
I have nicknamed Raspberry Ketone as the “Great Fat Liberator” because bodybuilders and models love raspberry ketone to help liberate the last 5 to 10 stubborn pounds of fat before competitions or photo shoots. I have seen the results from this supplement compound when combined with exercise. You could eat dozens of red raspberries every day or supplement with Genesis Today’s Red Raspberry Ketone capsules—I personally prefer the latter!
Overall, these are my four favorite superfoods for healthy weight control.
STEP 3. DIGEST, ABSORB, ASSIMILATE & ELIMINATE
We are not what we eat, but if we are not careful, we become what we do not eliminate. Anyone who is trying to lose weight must absolutely ensure that the 29 feet between the mouth and the anus are working properly, which means a minimum of one to two healthy bowel movements daily. Everything from our hair and skin health to the size of our waistlines starts at the core of our bodies, which is the digestive system.

STEP 4. DON’T FORGET TO FAST
Short, effective and intermediate fasting is not only great for jump starting weight loss, but it can also help breakthrough plateaus. I recommend a two- to three-day fast at least two times per year where you give your body a chance to focus its energy on purification rather than breaking down foods for digestion. Don’t starve yourself—the key is to keep your nutrition high by consuming a liquid multivitamin, fresh nutrient-rich vegetable juices and liquid superfruit supplements, and at the same time, avoid solid foods.
Overall, the key to healthy weight-loss is to establish a core diet of healthy alkaline foods, ensure your body is cleansed through proper digestion, elimination and fasting, and then put your diet on fat-burning overdrive with these incredible superfoods that will give you an added boost. All of this combined with plenty of water, the “push away” technique, consistent exercise that includes sweating and panting, and a little positive thinking delivers a very powerful and effective recipe for healthy weight loss!
